iOS Developer

Firefly

April 2013 - September 2013, Remote working

Firef.ly tracks your location to create a journal of your travels (whether holiday or daily), adding in images, videos and checkins to create context. In order to provide intelligent recommendations when you're out and about, the app contains a city guide for a number of cities (including London, Paris, New York, Singapore, Amsterdam, Rome).

My roles as CTO were (among others):-

  • I lead a small team of back and frontend developers to create the application in pure Swift (for the app), and Node.js for server side components. This was a hands-on role, where i acted both as manager and lead developer.

The 2 American football games are in 3d, and the baseball games in 2d; although they all share a simple custom physics engine, and behaviour engines for the 2 team based games.

iOS Developer

West End Studios

April 2012 – May 2012, Remote working

West End Studios came to me with an idea for an application for allowing companies to demonstrate their web content offline without needing to create a specific app for it. I took an existing open-source library (SESpringboard) and used it as the basis for the application; although I found that it did some of what I wanted to achieve (an iOS springboard-like interface), it didn't support orientation changes or iPad - I extended it to support those elements and pushed it back to GitHub. Once the primary interface was in place I added the functionality for downloading and unarchiving the webclips and displaying them.

The app was delivered to clients as an enterprise deployment.
